Blue Ridge Parkway Ralley, May 2008
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin like a breeze
This is the first verse of the popular song "Country Roads, Take Me Home" by John Denver.
This year I joined the Blue Ridge Parkway Ralley of i-bmw.com and I must say, I found something like a biker's paradise there. And I had great rides with some great guys down there in West Virginia.
We meet in Snowshoe, WV on a weekend in May. It is about 500 miles away from home and logistics require a two day travel. My friend Wolfgang from Germany is joining me and we have to pick up a rental bike first. The travel brings us to five US states (New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia) and we stay overnight in four of them (all except Virginia).

We go and pick up the bike and then go to Harrisburg meeting Kevin and Jim.

We continue our ride with Kevin and Jim and hit some very nice country roads.

We are heading East after some time of discussion and this is a very good decision. We go on dry roads almost all of the time and reach the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We decide to circle around and then go to Winchester (which changed later to Hagerstown). We went over some very nice country roads and had fun all day.

It is raining all day so we ride home on Interstates. Not so nice but it brings us home safe.
